Smokey Plum Makeup Look for the Red Carpet

The Making of a Red Carpet Look

I recently had the pleasure of Creating a Red Carpet Makeup Look for Lovely Jessie Buckley for the Olivier Awards. I knew this would be a fabulous opportunity to showcase some lovely Green Beauty Brands and have a bit of a play with colour. Jessie had decided on a beautiful Alice Temperly Dress in Black Lace with Embroidered flower details in Lavender, Magenta and Violet, see how I created this makeup look.

Clean Skincare for the Red Carpet

Green Beauty is far from wishy washy- hippy drippy. It is high performance and result driven, even if based on simple and traditional formulas. To Prep Jessie's Skin for a smooth makeup application, I first applied the Juice Beauty Green Apple Peel to exfoliate. This gentle fruit enzyme peel tingles a bit but gets rid of the dull top layer of skin.  To Hydrate and balance I rinsed with Sukin Micellar Water and then applied Inika Rosehip Oil as well as the Inika Hyaluronic Primer as a makeup base.  I also pressed some Weleda Skin food onto the tops of the cheeks for an 'Inner glow' look, and moiturised her lips with Dr Lipp Lanolin Balm.

Natural and Organic Red Carpet Makeup Look

Skin: Foundation+ Cheeks

I always Create a flawless base by applying thin layers of coverage, working to create a real but natural flawless finish. I began with the W3ll People Tinted Moituriser in Fair, blended with a brush and my fingers, and Layered Kjaer Weiss Fair Cream Foundation over-top with a Vintage Cosmetics Company sponge ( a discovery from my Little Known Box).  I contoured using a darker shade of Kjaer Weiss and then Powdered with Inika Mineral Veil. For added depth, I contoured again with the Inika Baked Bronzer and gave the tops of the cheeks a lumious glow with the Inika Illuminator ( Which lookis really Pink in the image below, but actually it is a Neutral Peach glow. I also used itlater on Jessie's Decolleté)

Eye Makeup + Lipstick

I used a combination of pinks and Plums to Create the look. I began with Dr Hauschka Shadows from their Rose Gold Palette (an Ivory and a Pink)  as a Base. They have just redesigned and relaunched their makeup line, so some of the shadows I have are discontinued,  but have a look at their beautiful new collection here. I have included a photo below anyway so you can see the colours

I then lined the Eyes with a DR Hauschka Khol Pencil in a dark Slate Grey which I blended out using a Grey Eyshadow from my kit. I also worked the outer corners of the eye with RMS Swift Shadow in Moonlight and deepened the crease with Elate Clean Cosmetics Shadow in Flare. I finished the look applying some Lash Unlimited Individual lashes in a double layer on the outside corner of her eyes, and used my favourite black RMS Mascara to finish the look.

I lined Jessie's Lips with a Lip Liner from y kit, and I then Applied Burts Bees Lipstick in Magenta Rush to the whole Lip in a solid, dense layer, blotting once then reapplying. I highlighted the middle of the lips with Burts Bees Lipstick in Iced Iris to "Plump" The lip shape. I finished by topping up the cheeks with a bit of Elate Cosmetics Blush in Desire, a soft really pale pink. I did not want to over-power the rest of the look.

And Voila! Jessie was beautiful and red carpet ready!
