New Feature: Tahira's Tiles
What's on Tahira's Tiles?
As I develop as a Green Beauty Blogger, I am lucky enough to have lovely people send me items to try out for review. I always try to give new skincare and makeup a proper trial and then let you know what I think. I have decided to start a new feature both on this blog and on Instagram: Tahira's Tiles which will feature products I am testing and my opinions of them. I also love championing smaller brands who perhaps have smaller publicity budgets, and this is a perfect way to spread the word on small brands doing big things.
To be clear, I tend to spend more time on brands and products I like, than brands that do not work for me. ( I am a Makeup artist who writes, not a full time blogger and I do not want to devote space on this blog to products that dont work for me, I contact brands directly with my concerns if I am unhappy)
So without further ado, here is what is On Tahira's Tiles right now:
Supermood Youth Glo Luxury Peel
This Peel is AMAZING! SUPERMOOD is a Natural and Holistic Beauty Company from Finland with an amazing array of products to treat your natural beauty from the inside out.
The Youth Glo Luxury Peel is a strong AHA peel containing Lactic Acid and Fruit Acids to eliminate dead surface skin cells. It also contains Anti-oxidants and a natural alternative to Retinol for plumped youthful skin.
IT is really not suitable for sensitive skin and should only be applied for about 60 seconds. it does cause redness which can take 10-30 minutes to subside but I find it really works! Perfect before a big event.

Harbour Elements Cleansing Balm
Harbour Elements is a new UK brand based in Hertfordshire. Born of a love of natural products and having reactive sensitive skin, Kate Porter formulated this cleansing balm with Amanda Foxon-Hill to create a cleansing balm suitable for sensitive skin that was also effective.
The clever formula contains oils, humectants and ingredients to help rinse the oil away.
Only a 1/2 pump is required and once blended with a small amount of water, turns into a silky milk that can be rinsed with more water or with a cloth.
I will say that mascara is still more of a challenge for this product (I use the RMS one) I usually have to go over a second time with a wet cotton bud to really clean it. Free standard shipping to the US and EU.
Honey Pie Minerals
I will begin by saying I am not a natural fan of loose Powder Mineral makeup. It is generally fussy and messy and I generally do not like the finish.
However, I do think there is a second generation of Mineral Makeup emerging and I really like this foundation from HoneyPie Minerals
Honeypie make mineral makeup free of chemicals, talc and bismuth oxide (which is labelled as natural but is actualy highly refined and can be very irritating and pore blocking.
Honeypie make makeup that is pure and clean and simple. The blush though pigmented, goes on sheer and matte and the foundation buffs very well into the skin for a very natural soft finish, with is neither too mate nor dewy. The range of colors is quite good though could do with some darker tones. I would also love to see some pressed shadows as those are much more convenient for me.
Flux Botanicals HG Oil
Flux Botanicals is a brand consisting right now of only 2 products that can be used in 6 ways. Genius!
If you read the blog regularly, you know I LOVE a face oil, and This Hello Glow oil from Flux is rather unique. Organic and cold-pressed oils and active CO2 botanical extracts effectively cleanse, heal and protect skin. The scent and texture are lovely.
It can be used to remove makeup, as a cleanser when washed with water and can also be used as a face oil. I like it as a remover with water, but if I am wearing heavy eye makeup, I definitely need a double cleanse. as a face oil, I prefer it only at night, as it is quite rich for my skin and feels like a soothing hydrating mask. It combines well with the Merumaya Vitamin A Resurfacing treatment.
hiro Cosmetics Liquid Foundation + Out of Space Balm
Hiro Cosmetics are a Berlin based makeup brand. Their products are natural with a high organic content, vegan and gluten free. This foundation smells like cake! I am loving the light and buildable formula that blends smoothly and easily into the skin for a sheer finish, but layers nicely for more coverage. I have used it with a brush,my fingers and a sponge, all with equal success both personally and professionnally.
The Space balms are like a creamy version of the foundation. with only slightly more coverage, these Concealers can be used on their own or combined with the foundation. The texture is very thin and the sheer coverage does build. It is not ideal for very strong marks or dark circles, but works beautifully for a natural skin finish.
The only think I will say is that all the colours do not have a very wide range, especially in darker colours. That said, thei midrange fair tones have an excellent variety of cool to warm undertones, though I personally still find them a bit pink. Talmadge workds PERFECTLY for me with a light tan at the moment.
Hiro can be purchased on Amazingy.com
Absolution Cosmetics Le Soin du Regard
Absolution Cosmetics Le Soin du regard is a really light pearlized eye serum with a cooling gel texture.
I have not used a dedicated eye cream for some time, mostly because I dont feel like I need it with serums but I really like it. It has such a fine texture, that a tiny 1/2 pump will do both eyes and I even spread it to the outer part of the under eye socket, at the top of the cheekbone, for a highlighting effect.
Absolution Cosmetics use high-quality botanical ingredients to create effective skincare (read this post for more about Absolution Cosmetics)
Feel Free to get in touch if you would like to know more about any of these products, and let me know if there is anything you think I should try or would like me to test for you!
