Behind the Scenes for Lucy's Magazine Shoot
In the Autumn I had this crazy idea for an Editorial shoot: 70's Geek Chick Beauty Editorial featuring great eye wear. I wanted to look like a cool teen magazine, with textured graphic wall paper as a background.
Luckily, I was able to assemble an ace team: Simon Wisbey behind the Lens, Kay Wyer Styling and Jade Lovejoy to Art Direct my vision. We shot the story and it was published last week in Lucy's Magazine, so I wanted to give you a little glimpse into how it came together.
First I created a Mood Board and Brief for the team to really communicate what the idea was. This is a really important step when you are creatively directing a shoot, because pictures speak 1000 words, and once the brief is given, all the artists involved are free to interpret and create, which is the best part of a collaboration.
On the day of the shoot, Kay assembled the out fits while Jade + Simon sorted out thee backdrops, and I got the girls ready. To emphasise the dolly innocent look, I applied lower eyelashes to both the models. The rest of their makeup was clean and pretty, with juicy lipgloss and bright round cheeks to give a not to teenagers of the 70's and 90's who would apply simple makeup.
Here are a few behind the scenes shot from the day!
