Smokey Eye Tutorial

I know, I know... There are about a million makeup tutorial out there for smokey eyes -  so I would thought I would throw my hat in the ring! I thought I would show you how I do a very quick smokey eye, mainly for busy women who want to create a beautiful makeup, in very little time, using some of my favourite non-toxic makeup.

In this video I am going to show you how I create a SUPER SIMPLE smokey eye, just using 1 or 2 eyeshadows and a soft pencil.

I have used 2 different colour schemes on my eyes, one using Grey and Black, and one using softer browns and taupes. The first is a more dramatic classic look and the second is softer and more wearable for daytime look that is more mistake proof.

Check out the video and scroll down to see more information on the products I used.

Products used in this Video

Hiro Cosmetics Liquid Foundation in Talmadge: I love this liquid foundation - It goes on really thin with a light texture and coverage that reminds me of MAC Face + Body from back in the day, but this base is 88% organic and Vegan. Coverage builds easily and like I say in the video, it smells like cake (not in a weird gross way, the scent goes pretty quick!). You can see more of my thoughts on HIRO Cosmetics here

Benecos Pencil in Brown: I really love this pencil. it is very dry which I think is a good quality in an eyebrow pencil because it will not gather and melt in between the brow hairs. In addition the pencil has a handy brow spoolie tool on one end. Or you can try the Lily Lolo Eyebrow duo if you prefer to use a brush or you need a waxto tame your brows.

The blue grey eyeshadow I use as a base in the video has been discontinued. As an alternative try RMS Swift shadow 27.

Inika Pressed Duo in Choc Coffee and Black Sands: I love these highly pigmented pressed mineral eyeshadows. the handy duo format allows you to buy 2 or 3 duos to have a full palette. They are a bit pricier than some other Duos so for more economical option look to Ere Perez.

For the lift of colour, I used my Elate Flare eyeshadow, which has been discontinued so try Modish by Elate  or PHB Ethical Grape Shadow which is a beautiful burgundy plum eyeshadow.

I used 2 Dr Hauschka pencils in the video, and though the ones I have are discontinued, they areavailable as pencils with a smudger on one end in black + brown, as well as other colours. experiment with plum, blue and green for alternative smokey eye colours.

I love the RMS Mascara - it is the only mascara that works for me without smudging. In fairness lots of different brands of mascara, normal or non-toxic, smudge on me.

I have been loving trying the Living Nature lipsticks. they are really soft and full of natural waxes, but packed with pigments, they have strong colour that holds while remaining comfortable to wear. The colour I am wearing is Morning Sun.  Or for a cooler tone, try Summer Rain.

Thank you for watching and I hope I have given you some great tricks to use at home!  Let me know how you get on with your own smokey eyes!
