My Favourite Bright Lipsticks that I loved Last year
Happy New year!
Welcome to 2019! I just want to take a moment to thank you for being here, and wish you a healthy and happy year ahead.
As you know, I am a superfan of a bright lip.
I have been for years, and I now have a bit of an addiction to having a bright colour! I always feel a little naked without my lips on. So here is a roundup of some of my Favourites that I discovered in 2018 - this is by no means an exhaustive list but is a good start for my faves.
1- Absolution Cosmetics in Coquelicot
I have loved this brand since one of the first times I discovered them at Content Beauty in London a few years ago. I have several other lippies in the collection, but bought Coquelicot in late spring/early summer for my kit, but the colour never made it to work, firmly planting itself in my personal collection. It as a perfect poppy red, with plenty of Orange to keep it warm and bright, but a hint of blue to balance it. out.
Absolution cosmetics Contain organic and natural ingredients which include: Carnauba Wax and Shea Butter Apricot Kernel and Sweet Almond Oil Calendula and Gotu Kola. The velvet matt finish is super comfortable, thanks to the many moisturising ingredients, and the pigments last for hours. SEE IMAGE BELOW
2- Ilia Colour Block in Knockout
Released earlier this year, the Ilia Colour Block Lipsticks Ilia Beauty Colour Block Lipstick combines customised pigments milled with organic castor seed oil to offer four times more pigment than their normal colours. all the colours are smooth and dense, but I became particularly taken by bright Fushioa Pink Knockout, a bright blue/mauve pink, perfect for adding a long lasting bright pop of colour. 3- Bite Beauty Jam Lipstick
To me, bit Beauty make some of the most comfortable lipsticks to wear. Packed with Natural and organic Oils and waxes, along side food grade pigments, I have loved this proudly Canadian Brand since its inception. The Amuse touch lipsticks have a matte finish, not dissimalr to Absolution, and are strongly pigmented. I am also a fan of their Agave lip palms by the way. Sadly, they have become infuriatingly impossible to acquire in Europe since Sephora no longer gives us access to the US and Canadian Websites. And to add insult to injury, Bite does not ship to Europe ! But Bite Beauty Lipsticks remain one of my favourites and this beautiful shade Jam is what Was wearing when I did the People magazine shoot with Sadra Oh last year. She liked it so much, we used it on her as well. SEE IMAGE ABOVE
4- Ere Perez Olive Oil Lipstick in Royal
These Ultra Moisturising lipsticks were a revelation when I worked with them for Glow Organic in May. The Ere Perez Olive Oil Lipsticks are highly Pigmented vegan Friendly lipsticks that have a smooth and slightly glossy finish. They come in 14 shades and can be layered for more colour and pigment. I love the deep Claret colour of Royal, but the lipsticks come in a wide rage of shades from pretty nudes to bold pinks. They last fairly well, because if their strong pigments. SEE IMAGE ABOVE
5- Hynt BEauty Lipstick in Red Fervor
For a classic, blue Red, full of sophisticated glamour combined with natural ingredients and easy wear, you can’t beat Red Fervor. This lipstick is extremely soft and easy to apply and definitely hydrates as you wear it. Hynt Lipsticks feature a patented 100% GMO free plant based complex that boosts water absorption and hydration levels by up to 25%. The case also holds a mirror and lip conditioner for touch-ups on the go. And I might add that I met Meryle, the brand founder this year and she is just the most delicious person and I really support her values and brand. SEE IMAGE BELOW
6- Axiology Lip Crayon in Valor
In the spring last year I had the pleasure to create many makeup looks for Desiree Akhavan, playing the character of Laila in Channel 4’s The Bisexual ( which she amazingly wrote and directed as well. We wanted a brown/brick tone for the role and Axiology just fit the bill. Easy to apply, this crayon can be layered for deeper colour and is Vegan Friendly as well. Valour has just enough orange in the brown tone to keep it from looking overly “Fashun” .
RMS Beauty + Kjaer Weiss
I must also add that RMS Beauty launched some beautiful lipsticks this year, but I did not get a change to road test them properly myself, but I hear only good things. Also, classic cult brand Kjaer Weiss only makes the most beautiful makeup products, and their lipsticks are no exception. I have only tested them in store, but the luxurious ethical packaging and formulations make them a guaranteed star in your lipstick collection.
